Ah Wha Gwan

Shade Software Solutions announced the release of their localised news and information service Ah Wha Gwan(TM) (AWG) in collaboration with Copiers Limited Jamaica. The goal of this service is to simplify and improve how Jamaicans at home and within the Diaspora, access relevant local and international news.

AWG is primarily targeted to the Jamaican community within the England, United States and Canada but will also allow Jamaicans living at home to become more educated and aware of national, regional, and international issues. The product is designed to require minimal learning curve, and once installed, requires no configuration, all packaged as a news portal with an impressive footprint of a little over 100 kilobytes.

The AWG service delivers screenshots of different news and information websites, as well as custom content that rotates every few seconds. Once downloaded and set as the default screensaver, any idle PC from Windows(R) Netbooks to Servers can become a news portal. The content is updated throughout the day so staying updated with the headlines only requires a glance.

The idea behind the service is to “bring the best of the web to the user, instead of requiring users to go to the web,” says a company representative, who went on to say that “the internet is a wonderful vehicle for information but it is becoming increasingly overloaded, and users are overwhelmed because they just don’t have the time to be consumed with clicking through search results, logging onto websites, reading emails, or checking RSS news feeds just to stay abreast with the world around them.”

Shade Software Solutions is a Microsoft Gold Certified ISV partner and currently has a number of trademarks and patents pending for their product innovations, and is seeking to form strategic partnerships that will align with their overall business goals.
